Creating a Website You Love: Two Key Elements to Focus On

Your website is often the first impression potential customers will have of your business. Beyond that, your website is an extension of your brand which oftentimes is equivalent to YOU.

I take my job as a website designer seriously because I recognize the deep significance a website can have to someone beyond its ability to grow their business. It is a manifestation of all of their hard work, efforts, and dreams.  That’s why it’s so important to create a site you absolutely love. How do you do that?

You create a site that clearly communicates your brand vision and resonates with your ideal clients.

In all of my years designing websites, my happiest clients are the ones that came into the design process with a very clear vision. They’d already put in the work and time to figure out exactly what their brand identity is and who they serve. Once you’ve nailed those two things as a business owner, everything else will follow.

Know Your Brand Identity

Before starting any website design, take time to get crystal clear on your brand vision. This is a topic that may require some independent research on your part. It includes answers to questions like:

  • What makes your business unique?
  • What is your mission statement?
  • What should your brand look like visually?

Most importantly-know your target audience and values inside out. This brand clarity will inform all your website design choices – from aesthetics to copywriting and more.

For example, if you’re launching a yoga studio focused on mindfulness, your site should have calming colors, ample white space, and content about the benefits of awareness practices. Let your brand identity shine through.

Know Your Ideal Client

You also need an intimate understanding of who your ideal clients are.

  • What do they value?
  • What pain points do you help solve?
  • What content would draw them in? The more specific you get, the better.

Create detailed buyer personas that capture demographic info, behaviors, goals and challenges of your dream customers. Then design a site that speaks directly to them – use language they relate to and feature images of people like them. Catering to their desires will make them feel seen.

Know Your Limits. Invest in Professional Website Design

While DIY site builders make launching a site easy, not everyone can get that polished level of design they desire on their own. Professional web design services know how to make brands shine online. Don’t be afraid to spend a bit more for a gorgeous, conversion-focused website and focus your talents in other areas.

Conclusion

Creating a website you genuinely love takes effort – from defining your brand purpose to optimizing user experience. But the investment is well worth it. A beautifully designed site that connects with your ideal clients can take your business to the next level. What elements will you focus on to craft a website you’re proud to share? The possibilities are endless if you put your customer first.
